Stoke City manager, Tony Pulis, has drawn comparisons of the current Manchester City side to Jose Mourinho’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. He stated that the Citizens have played some brilliant football this season and deserve the UEFA Champions League place.
Manchester City defeated Stoke 3-0 in an English Premier League clash at the City of Manchester Stadium to claim their second win over the Potters in four days. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini’s side downed Stoke in the final of the FA Cup at Wembley to win the competition
for the first time since 1969.
Pulis stated that this season’s Manchester City remind him of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in 2004 and 2005. He insisted that Mancini’s side has quality players who have the skill and ability to play at the top level. He also revealed that City’s success in the
FA Cup this year is only the start and with the talent and determination they have, the future is surely bright.
“They [Man City] remind me of Chelsea five years ago under Jose Mourinho. They’re a big, strong, powerful group of players with good pace and ability and talent as well so they’ll be a force next year. They’ll be a danger to the other teams chasing the championship,”
the manager was quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician admitted that it was always going to be difficult to win at Eastlands. He stated that his side missed some key players for the clash which included the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kenwyne-Jones-c20659 and Jermaine
Pennant which made it more difficult.
“It was difficult with the team we put out. Missing Etherington, Jones, Huth, Fuller and Higgingbotham, it’s like half your team and you’ve got to come here with your best team and hope," he told reporters after the match.
Stoke City have had an amazing season this term and are tipped to end the season in the top-half of the standings table. They are currently ninth with 46 points and are level on points with Bolton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion but are above them due
to a superior goal difference.
