Steven Gerrard satisfied with Liverpool’s draw against Manchester United – EPL News
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 skipper Steven Gerrard has expressed his satisfaction over the Reds 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Anfield and has stated that the draw against the English champions is ‘not the end of the world’ for the Merseyside club.
The Anfield club failed to register a record fourth consecutive win over Manchester United at home, despite starting the proceedings impressively against Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s defensive minded men.
After a goalless first half, the hosts managed to find a breakthrough in the 68th
minute via their influential skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196, who scored an absolutely amazing free kick.
However, the Reds’ hopes of getting all three points against Manchester United were dented when Javier Hernandez equalised with only six minutes left on the clock.
In a search of a winner, the Merseyside club pushed hard in the dying minutes, however, the hosts failed to find a breakthrough and had to settle for a draw.
Gerrard believes that Liverpool deserved to win against United, though, he asserted that a draw against reigning English champions is a not a bad result.
The Englishman told the reporters, "Our fans will feel hard done by with the chances at the end. We could have maybe nicked it but we are playing the best side in the league so I suppose a draw is not the end of the world."
Gerrard has admitted that he was lucky to get a goal and has acknowledged that United’s poor defence helped him register his first goal of the season.
"I don’t think the free kick was the best. The idea was to get it over the wall but a couple years ago at Old Trafford the same thing happened and the wall split. Maybe that’s the little bit of luck I’ve been looking for so to come back for my first 90 minutes
and get a bit of luck, I’m really happy with that,” Steven Gerrard concluded.
Following the 1-1 draw at Anfield, Liverpool are currently placed fifth in the standings with 14 points from eight matches.
