Sociology Class?

Alright,so I start sociology class the 27th,im in pyschology now till next friday then this class,then nutrion,etc,but im just wondering what sociology class is,and what all they talk about thnx.

I took Sociology classes and some of the things they talk about is mariage stats., money, religion, how diff. people act, etc...  its a very cool and interesting class, you'll like it.

Sociology is the study of social facts and their relations. It is about applying scientific principles and logic to the study of groups. You will probably read C. Wright Mills "The sociological imagination", discuss suicide and divorce, the meaning or race and gender, popular culture, art, sexuality, work, religion, politics, social-psychology, murder, mass hysteria...almost anything. You might even discuss food and nutrition...the sociology of food is actually an interesting area.

Simply put this class will show you how and why things happen in the world between people.  Things like why some areas of the world have more children than adults, how religions affect certain parts of the world, or how to look at a sheet of facts and statistics and be able to deduct atleast a couple things about a particular population.

Right off the bat though you'll want to know the difference between a functionalist, a conflict, and a symbolic perspective because you'll be required to apply those theories or else you'll have a hard time participating in class.
