  1. I thought Sicily was only in Italy and owned by Italy

ummm. I had a look and Sicily it has no connection to Africa past or present  yet alone occupied or captured by any African kingdom or country. Does your friend actually know what he/she is talking about?

  2. Not African-American as you may be thinking of it...North Africa has Arabs, Berbers, Bedouins, Egyptian and other non-black African groups.

Sicily is one of those places in the world that has had a lot of different cultures and races live there and pass through there, as others have mentioned...including Arabic peoples from Africa.  Who "owned" Sicily doesn't matter as much as who settled and raised families there.

  3. I don't think Sicily was ever occupied by any African nations. I know a lot of other countries have occupied Sicily. But Italy is the one that has mostly occupied them. Sicilans are a lot like Italians though. i don't think your african, unless it's from a different part of the family.

  4. no, you would be mix African Italian. study the history of Sicily ,they were once Spartan Greek. Italians are not white , the USA  categorized the Italians the migrated to the USA were listed as ******. do the research.
