  1. Yes because you will be able to wear them for your photo's instead of the BCG's.

  2. Leave them at home. They give you an eye exam when you first get to basic and if you need glasses (your vision is anything less than 20/20) you will be issued military glasses to wear. You may need them to see the bulls eye on the target for M-16 training.

  3. I wore mine the first few days, then we were issued those ugly BCGs. But I really do need glasses, not just for driving. So if you can see alright without them, I wouldn't bring them. Otherwise they'll just take them and make you wear the ugly ones.

Good luck to you in basic. It will get hard, frustrating, and depressing at times, but keep your spirits up and keep in mind it is all just a mind game that will be over soon.

  4. you get issued the big ugly glasses that you have to wear

  5. You can bring them if you want, but they will issue you a set of BCG's and gas mask insert glasses when you get there.

You will NOT be able to wear your civ. glasses in BMT.

-Funny story about BMT and Glasses.  They told me that I needed to have some when I was in, so they issued me the ugly brown BCG's.  I tried them on once, couldn't see out of them at all, and hid them for the entire time I was there.  If you really don't need glasses for everyday things, I would recommend doing the same.  Don't, however, throw them out, because if the TI somehow finds out that you are supposed to have glasses, you may need to start wearing them at some point.
