I want to get married ... I can't afford a wedding but I wanna at least make my relationship halal by doing Nikah. Should the Mosque be asking me for £200/300 just to perform it?If yes what's that money for?

What about people that can't afford that kind of money?

Thanks Guys

  1. Ask them what you will be getting for the 200£ first.  If it is important to you do it, if not don't.

  2. The Mosque has expenses just to keep it running. Water, electricity, sewer, maintenance (cleaning, repairs, painting) just to name a few.  Plus you'll want somebody to perform the Nikah, should he not get paid for his time? So, yes, it is reasonable that they ask for a fee.

If you can't afford it, they may wave the fee. However, if your finances are this tight you may be wise to delay the wedding until you can afford it. Money, or rather the lack of it, is one of main reasons marriages fail.

  3. its not in the sharia law to pay for nikkah.the best thing that has to do with ALLAH in your marriage its the agreement between both parent and you paying your bride her dowry every other thing is just for ceremony.lucky you find somebody who understand islam i wish i hav one best wishies for your marital life.amin.
