  1. it could be a sleep think, a bad nights sleep severly effects your memory...dont you hate that when you ask a question and and you say your a teenager people just blame it on that

  2. Not unusual... you have so many things to think about at your age, you retain only what you want to.

  3. I too had short term memory loss. I couldn't believe it when I found out what was causing it.  It turned out to be a chemical they put in food called sucralose. And it is in a lot of stuff. From fitness water to tomato sauce.

Sucralose is what Splenda is. Sadly, the package doesn't have to say Splenda or diet to have sucralose in it. You have to read the ingredients.

Search the internet "sucralose memory loss"

Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia, gastrointestinal issues and more.

The slogan, "Made from sugar..." is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons.

carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air

  4. As a teenager, your hormones are all over the place and going through puberty.  Because of this, you're more prone to stress and sleep problems.  If you don't get enough sleep, that can affect your short term memory.  If you're stressed, you tend to get side tracked and become more forgetful of things.  I'm not a teenager anymore, I'm in my 20's and tend to have the same problem.  I've been experiencing short term memory loss and becoming more forgetful because I've been under a lot of stress.  Like the other day at work, I was leaving to walk to my car and couldn't remember where I parked; lol.  When I was still in college, it was so easy to forget to do things cause I wasn't getting much sleep.  Because of this, I have to write things down.  So try keeping a day planner or palm pilot.  Best of luck

  5. My answer may be out there, but having more information never hurts.  I am 28, have ADD and have had the same exact problem. I am so bad, I can't remember the dates of my friends birthdays let alone something that was said to me.  It's quite frustrating!

I'm not saying that this is your problem, but in my mind if it's significant enough to you that you felt motivated enough to post about it, it's important enough a question to look into further.

The fact that you are a 14 yr old young woman is also significant.  Boys and girls are looked at differently, especially in the school system.  Memory and other cognitive problems or a learning disability can prevent you from reaching your full potential because nobody ever questioned your concerns. This is quite common. Many times girls are seen as shy, simply indecisive, lazy along with problems with focus when reading, school anxiety-especially around tests.Since the world looks at the stereotypical signs and see that your fine with planning and organization and not hyperactive then you must not have such problems, even though this is not necessarily true.

  6. Mrsd, I'm 14 and have the exact same problem. I don't know my cell phone number either. When my parents tell me to do something I forget about it immediately! It might be short term memory.

  7. I have a 13 year old son. He'll ask me what is for supper and 5 minutes later asks me again. I think it is a teen age thing. A friend of mine has a 15 year old with the same "problem'.
