Sedin Brothers superb in Game 2 of Western Conference Finals’ series as they score 5 points
The Sedin brothers (Henrik and Daniel) were coming under heavy criticism as many experts said that they choke at the crucial stages while some said that they were only regular season players. However, with the performance that they came up with in Game 2, they have silenced all their critics to show that they are match winners. Not only have they performed at the crucial stage but chose the right moment, Western Conference Finals to show what they are made of.
The second game of the Conference Finals witnessed the brothers combining to score a total of five points and playing an important role in guiding the Canucks to an impressive 7-3 win over the San Jose Sharks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.
Daniel Sedin scored two goals during the power-plays that were both assisted by his brother Henrik.
Henrik later also came up with an assist for Aaron Rome who also scored a goal.
Both the brothers combined really well, passing the puck and confusing the defence to score a goal, midway in the final period.
Later the two combined once again with a few minutes left in the final period to score a goal to put the Canucks in a 5-2 lead.
Henrik was facing trouble when it came to the productivity as he could score only four points in the series against the Nashville Predators.
However, he has scored five goals in two games already and from the looks of it he will surely get better.
"I think our power-play was clicking pretty good tonight", Daniel said. "I think that was the main thing. I thought we played better in the first game, but tonight we were fortunate to get a goal there".
Though the two brothers are getting on track, scoring goals and creating chances for other players in the team, currently they are not looking very productive but rather concentrating to get back in form.
Both the brothers have already said that they don’t care who scores the goals as long as the Canucks score goals.
However, the poor performance against the Predators after the standards they have set for themselves was a horrendous sight. They didn’t look like a team that could challenge for the Stanley Cup title.
Both the players are in the first and fourth positions in the National Hockey League when it comes to the scoring in the league.
The Sedins, accompanied by Kevin Bieksa, are playing a very important role in the team’s success and are expected to continue on the same path.
“That whole line tonight obviously had some quality shifts on the ice", Canucks’ coach, Alain Vigneault, said.
