Sauber driver Sergio Perez aiming to have a much better 2012 season – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that it is his aim to have a much better 2012 Formula 1 season for his current team.
The Mexican has secured a deal with Sauber for the next Formula 1 season. However, he said that he is confident that the 2012 F1 season will be better as compared to the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The team driver discussed with the media that it is fact everything takes time, so being the youngest driver in the sport, he needs some time to understand the different aspects of this game.
Talking to reporters, Perez said, “Of course, it always helps to know so early what you are doing next year. Normally as a driver, not that you worry but you want to find the best future for your career, and I think it was always a good idea to stay at Sauber.
For me, it was of course a very clear decision.”
The 21-year-old driver also discussed his 2011 Formula 1 season so far and admitted that he was unable to make improvements in terms of performance after the first three rounds of the season held in Australia, Malaysia and China respectively.
Apart from that, Perez mentioned that his 2011 Monaco Grand Prix accident broke his momentum, which he made from the start of the ongoing season. In addition, he said that it was a big shame for him as he missed out two races after the accident very early
in his F1 career.
The Sauber driver went on to add, “Fortunately that did not happen, nothing big, and I just missed two races - two important races where the team scored very good points, they were two circuits that suited our strategy mainly quite well. Unfortunately I
lost some points there and some rhythm.”
In the Hungarian Grand Prix, Perez was not able to perform well among the strong rivals. He started the Grand Prix from the 10th place on the grid and ended up in the 15th spot after struggling a lot with his C30 car.
Let’s see how Perez manages his races in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season after coming back from the summer break.
