Rumours hushed aside: Harbaugh to caddie for Smith at AT&T Pro-Am, Pebble Beach
All rumours regarding the replacement of Jim Harbaugh as Alex Smith’s caddie have been sidelined after the final announcement was disclosed. Harbaugh’s name still tops the list for any other contender of this post.
Even though further negotiations regarding the finalising of his contract need to be made, Alex has already made it crystal clear that the only person bagging for him will be Harbaugh.
This was further verified by Harbaugh when he said, "Obviously Alex is as high a priority as anyone on our team".
The duo is anticipated to reunite at the AT&T Pro-Am at Pebble Beach.
It is important to mention here that the two share a number of wonderful experiences. In the midst of these experiences, they have formed a father-son relationship.
Combining at South bay for the first event, the two have always enjoyed an eventful career at different periods of time.
Furthermore, Smith, who has always been famous for his turnovers, provides a perfect depiction of the way he has been serving as a quarterback for 49ers.
Along with him, it is Matt Cain from current Super bowl champions New York Giants.
Another important piece of evidence that will further cement their relation is the recent Coach of the Year award Harbaugh has secured.
The award was obtained by Smith on his caddie’s behalf. According to Harbaugh, the award is mainly for players as they are the ones who perform well and are the true deservers of the award.
"I didn't feel comfortable going up and giving a deep bow, you know, for what our players accomplished. I thought that was for the players," he stated.
In an event that is scheduled to take place at the Spyglass Hill Course, the two have decided to change their role.
Harbaugh will team up with professionals and experts like Ryan Moore and Matt Bettencourt for the event.
Smith was also invited to take part in the event but, due to prior engagement somewhere else, he could not participate in the event.
Jim is hopeful that the upcoming encounters will be interesting with more NFL players taking part in the game of golf.
