Rugby Update: RFU hires Paul Vaughan as CEO of England Rugby 2015

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has appointed Paul Vaughan as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the England Rugby 2015, which will over see everything as regards to 2015 World Cup held in England. Paul Vaughan will start his duties from 4th
of January 2011.
Currently, Paul Vaughan is working as commercial director of Rugby Football Union from 2001. Rugby Football Union increased its revenues from 43M GBP to 119M GBP under his directorship and he was also protagonist in RFU’s major commercial deals with many
big incorporations of the world.
Vaughan’s new responsibilities will be to organize an exceptional tournament and also to make a strategy which could help to accomplish utmost from sale of tickets. But Vaughan will also carry on his current responsibility as well, until mid of next year
as RFU is planning that how could they fill the Vaughan’s spot. It was his vast experience in the field of rugby marketing, which made Vaughan perfect for the post.
Martyn Thomas, who is Chairman of England Rugby 2015 and also the chairman of Rugby Football Union Board, was talking to media over the Vaughan’s hiring last night. He said Rugby Football Union had short listed of few very capable and knowledgeable people
in the related field but in the end all the members agreed for Paul Vaughan, who is a blend of experience in rugby marketing, commercial knowledge and leadership skills and he also knows the working atmosphere of Rugby Football Union.
"Making the Rugby World Cup a success will require a positive and collaborative relationship with the IRB and with the RFU and it goes without saying Paul has those relationships already in place and has been closely involved in our planning so far so
we are already well on our way to delivering an outstanding World Cup. We are very excited by the appointment and I believe Paul will be pivotal in the delivery of an outstanding Rugby World Cup."
Now 2015 World Cup is only 5 years away and England has started the work to deliver a showcase event, which proves to be the best one than previously held World Cups. The Rugby World Cup Limited is also in the process to make a master plan for the World
Cup which will guide to run all the matters of World Cup is efficient and effective manner.
Bernard Lapasset, who is chairman of Rugby World Cup Limited, also welcomes the appointment of Paul Vaughan and said Vaughan has all the attributes, which they were looking for. He has huge knowledge of game, he also has strong working relationship with
International Rugby Board, and he can easily say that Vaughan is the best suitable person for the post. Rugby World Cup Limited is happy to work in partnership with Vaughan and his team and will deliver a spectacular World Cup.
Paul Vaughan, who was very pleased with his appointment, also, spoke to media and talked about his new job.
He said, "It is a tremendous honour to be offered the opportunity to manage the delivery of RWC 2015 in England and one I accept with great relish. The RFU are the custodians of the tournament before handing it on to Japan in 2019 and I want to deliver
a fantastic event for the game and a long term positive legacy for the RFU.”
2015 Rugby World Cup will start in September and a total number of 48 matches will be played between the different teams. The decision of RFU to hire Paul Vaughan looks a wise one, as Vaughan has huge experience in the related filed and no wonder he is a
fully capable person to deliver successful World Cup for England.
