I am going planning to go to Rome and Greece with my mom this Sept. We are coming fromt he US but not sure where to go first? Will it make a difference? And, do I fly or take a ferry from Rome <->greece? Which is cheaper, yet faster?

  1. U.S. to Rome to Greece to U.S.

  2. I did a Rome-Greece trip a year ago. We flew into Rome and then took a night ferry from Brindisi across the Ionian Sea to Patras, Greece. I stayed for 10 days and it costed under $2000(not including spending money).  I would recommend doing that.

  3. greeece too rooomme

  4. Perhaps you could try this: Buy a round trip ticket from US to Athens with a connecting flight in Rome. Schedule the connecting flight from Rome to Athens to be a few days after the one that brings you to Rome from the US, so that you can sightsee in Rome.

Then on the way back to the US from Greece, schedule the connecting flight in Rome to be on the same day as the one that brings you to Rome.

Many airlines allow this sort of thing now without surcharges, so it would be like buying a normal ticket from the US to Greece. There are some catches, and you should discuss them with the travel agent.
