Rhodium plating white gold rings?

What is the process for getting rings rhodium plated? Are they just dipped? Do they have to be polished?

  1. You do not have to polish it before you take it in to get rhodium plated. It is close to dripping, I think they heat the gold up, to help smooth the surface again and the place it in a polish to bring the white gold color back and the shine! It is totally worth it if you are debating. It will make your ring look brand new again! Even if it is 50 years old!


  2. My understanding is that they are dipped to be more shiny.  The rhodium coating will  wear off.  It depends on how hard you are on your jewelry when you will need to have re-dipped.  My daughter-in-law had hers re-dipped a little over a year of wearing her ring.
