Red Bull driver Mark Webber hails Sebastian Vettel’s performance in 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Despite the fact that Red Bull racing team drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel are not good friends, Webber has appreciated his teammate’s performance in the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season.
He admitted that Vettel has done a great job in the 2011 season so far. He also mentioned that he is a stronger driver in Formula 1 since the last two years.
Both teammates are still not in a friendly relationship after the collision between them in the 2010 Turkish Grand Prix. The contact between the Red Bull teammates resulted in Vettel’s retirement from the race, while Webber lost the lead.
Recently, Webber once again highlighted his relationship with Vettel and said, “No. Why? There is no reason for it. Let's put it this way: I'm 34 years old, I read my daily newspaper so why ask him for his opinion. We have too many different opinions on
things.”
Webber went on to mention, “I'm really not an expert in many things but I am very interested in what happens around, which includes world affairs. If someone is not interested in the same things why should I still talk to him? Why must we already talk about
Sebastian Vettel? If you want to know about him ask him yourself. Let's talk about something else.”
With regards to Webber’s performance in the ongoing season, he is moving in the right direction, as he has scored many points for the team in the season so far.
The Australian admitted that he had a disappointing start to the 2011 season, as he was unable to finish his race on the podium in the first two race weekends held in Australia and Malaysia respectively.
Webber had a Kinetic Energy Recovery System issue in his RB7 since the start of the season which made it difficult for him to manage a podium finish. After the Malaysian Grand Prix, he really worked hard and finished his next race on the podium.
In the recently held Canadian Grand Prix, the 34-year-old driver successfully finished his race in the third place. The Australian is looking forward to his race victory in the upcoming Valencia GP, taking place on June 26, 2011 in Europe.
