Premier League news - Chelsea’s Carlo Ancelotti says that Blues will dominate the season
The 51 year old Italian manager of Chelsea, Carlo Ancelotti, has expressed that he knows the Blues can go all the way to defend their English Premier League title this season even if they are without the services of the forwards Joe Cole and Fernando Torres.
The men from Stamford Bridge were able to thwart the main contenders for the EPL title this season, Manchester United, by just one point and in the process broke the streak of 4 straight title victories from the Ferguson and Co.
So far the Blues have just used 5 million pounds to sign in new players this season and that new player was the Israeli midfielder, Yossi Benayoun, who came in from Liverpool.
The other person that has caused a flurry from Reds at the Blues camp is Fernando Torres; however he is not the wanted man anymore. Earlier in the season Chelsea was pretty desperate at signing the star striker but not anymore as his injuries and recent lack of performance with Spain has clearly suggested that Chelsea would be taking a big risk in signing him and that will just not be worth it.
He was being signed in for about 50 million pounds but with the rise of other star strikers from the World Cup and Torres posing a disappointing performance at the World Cup, he axed his own feet.
The rumours of star defender Ashley Cole leaving for Real Madrid have also been eradicated. Ancelotti has told that with or without Cole, he is hopeful that the Blues will progress to their second consecutive Premier League title.
A confident Ancelotti cleared that the present strikers they had were enough for the job and the defence they had was one of the best in the world so he was optimistic that Chelsea are a strong horse in the race for the title.
While talking to media Ancelotti expressed on strikers issue saying, “We don't need more strikers, we are able to win”. He also had words on Cole and the defenders of the team saying that they were as stable as ever, on Cole he relayed, “I didn't speak with him, I don't need to speak with him and he doesn't need to speak to me”.
He praised the player saying that he is a true Chelsea player. He told that he greatly admired his talent and saw his potential in the last season when he became the key to change the momentum of the game. He also told that Cole will be playing a pivotal role for them in the next season.
Ancelotti announced that Chelsea were the clear favourites to win the EPL title next season and they were going to prove that. He also told that it was not just the EPL Chelsea was targeting next season but other titles like the Champions League as well.
He warned other teams to be afraid of them next season as they were going to be relentless in their charge with an unforgiving onslaught towards domination.
On the issue Ancelotti commented, “We are able to defend the title. We have to defend this title. We want to do our best in all the competitions”.
Ancelotti admitted that the last season knock out from Champions League in the Round of 16 was indeed extremely disappointing but that was not going to happen this time. He expressed that their last time terminators Inter Milan should be wary of the fact that Chelsea were coming back stronger and more powerful than before. Inter Milan later went on to win the Champions League title.
On the subject Ancelotti said, “Our aim is to do better than the last year in the Champions League. We went out too early last season”.
