Plz explain?

in the ongoing IPL matches,a player frm each team is wearing a different coloured cap like marsh (punjab)wears orange cap and tanveer(rajasthan)wears a purple cap ,wat does this mean?

Orange cap is for best batsman and Purple cap is for best bowler whose performance is best in IPL.

Its because Shaun marsh has got the maximum nuber of runs in IPL therefore he wears an or Sohail tanvir has got the orange cap &  maximum number of wickets in IPL so he wears a

purple cap.

Well if u take a closer look u will see that players from different teams wear their respective team cap. It is only Shaun Marsh (Punjab) & Shoial Tanveer (Rajasthan) that wears an orange cap & purple cap. Reason being that Marsh is the current leading run scorer in the IPL (orange cap is given to the leading run scorer) & Tanveer is the current highest wicket taker (purple cap given to the highest wicket taker).

The leading run scorer & highest wicket taker can change from time to time & that was why players like Gautham Gambhir, Sangakkara (before his injury) & @ first McCullum was wearing the cap.

Indian Premium League first introduced Orange for the best batsman and subsequently Purple Cap for the best Bowler.

The Orange Cap will be awarded to the batsman with the most cumulative runs to his name on each day of the season, and will be worn by that batsman in the field.

At the end of the season, the holder of the Orange Cap will win the honour of being called the 'Winner of Orange Cap 2008' and will receive recognition for his deeds with the willow on the occasion of the Grand Finals in the city.

The Purple Cap, which will be awarded to the bowler with most cumulative wickets to his name.

At  the end of the season, the holder of the Purple Cap will receive recognition on the final day of the IPL.

Since Marsh and Tanvir are the highest run getter and wicket taker respectively in IPL, they are wearing the Orange and Purple Caps.
