A position vector in the first quadrant has an x-component of 6.0 m and a magnitude of 10 m.

What is the value of its y-component?

  1. You have basically a 3:4:5 right angled triangle

    so the missing side is the ratio 4 one which gives the y compomnent a value of 8 .

    You could also work this out as 10^2 = 6^2 + y^2

    so y^2 = 10^2 - 6^2

    which will give the same answer.
