Peter Hoeg Gade, Jan O Jorgensen to lead Denmark squad for 2011 Sudirman Cup – Badminton news
Denmark, the leading European country in Badminton, has revealed its national squad for the forthcoming Sudirman Cup 2011, which will take place in China from May 22.
Denmark has selected the full strength of the country for the biggest mixed team tournament. The Danish team comprises of young players along with the experienced veterans.
In the category of Men’s Singles, Denmark is sending Peter Hoeg Gade and Jan O Jorgensen. Despite the fact that Peter Gade is in his thirties, he is still one of the best shuttlers in the world. He is currently world number six in the Men’s Singles world
rankings. The veteran will join forces in the singles category with Jorgensen who is occupying the 13th spot in the world rankings.
In the Men’s Double’s category, the world number one pair of Mathias Boe – Carsten Mogensen and Mads Conrad Petersen – Jonas Rasmussen will represent Denmark in the mixed team championship. Boe – Mogensen are currently enjoying the world number one ranking,
whereas Mads Conrad – Rasmussen are currently placed at the 19th position in the world.
In the category of Women’s Singles, Tine Baun and Karina Jorgensen will represent Denmark in the Sudirman Cup. Tine is currently world number eight, whereas Karina is placed at world number 61. The eighth seed is quite competent to beat any player in the
world on a given day.
In the Women’s Doubles category, the world number 30 pair of Kamilla Rytter Juhl – Christinna Pedersen and world number 42 duo of Line Damkjaer Kruse – Marie Roepke will join forces to assist their Danish team to win the title in the Sudirman Cup.
In the category of Mixed Doubles, Denmark has selected the two most talented couples including Christinna Pedersen – Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl – Thomas Laybourn.
The world number three couple of Christinna – Nielsen is expected to play a crucial role in the performance of the Danish team. The duo has won many international tournaments proving their worth at the international level. Rytter Juhl – Laybourn, the 2009
world champions, ranked at 14th position in the world rankings, are also expected to put up a good show in China.
