Pakistan’s victories from drawn Test against South Africa at Dubai
How long has it been since we saw a paramount performance in batting by Pakistan? Ever since Inzamam’s performance that turned a loss into a victory against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in 2006, such valiant efforts have been minimal.
This season Pakistan has struggled in Test matches played against quality teams like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and England just because of their poor batting display.
But not long ago Pakistan witnessed just what they have been missing in those performances.  The ecstatic and under pressure century of Younis Khan on the final day at Dubai cricket stadium aided towards the survival of the Test match for Pakistan.  A Test
match in which Pakistan were far behind , facing a first innings deficit of 132 runs and still managing to end the match in a draw must have taken some heroic efforts.
Younis Khan, and, Misbah Ul-Haq, who made another return to Test cricket after a long time and was playing his first ever Test match as a captain, put up an unbroken stand of 186 to pull off a stunt that was very unpredictable as the World itself had circumvented
the Pakistan team from immaculate performances like these.
Younis’s pliancy alongside Misbah, who played in this match after the Sydney Test disaster, assured a decent return.  After Younis scored his 3rd hundred against South Africa, all eyes will be on him in the future events but it was Misbah, who
was under immense pressure and perusal after his return from the all controversial Sydney Test.
This performance by both the key star batsman will most certainly boost up their morale and give them an edge in the future fixtures.
In the first innings of the match http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 for just
248 runs.
Younis making a return to the team as a key figure always had the excuse of the immense burden he was under due to the fact of being the senior batsman in the team. But keeping his cool after a fairly nervous initiation to his batting in the second innings
he justified his selection in the team for the tour.
Both these stars did have some philanthropic South African fielding as their lucky charm as Younis was put down twice at 16 and 70 by Boucher and Kallis. Misbah was dropped by Hashim Amla on short leg just at the beginning of his innings.
But that is just part of the game and does not stain in anyway the herculean effort put up by both to save the first Test of the series.  Missed chances are always costly but no one ever intends to miss them.
