A depleted Pakistani bowling attack rocked the South Africans in the first session of the second day of the first Test at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Resuming at the overnight score of 311/3, the Pakistanis suffered a blow when left arm pacer Wahab Riaz who claimed two out of three wickets to fall on day one pulled his side muscle and was ruled out of action.
The overnight pair of Jacques Kallis and night watchman Paul Harris started day two cautiously.
However they were in for a shock as a fired up Umar Gul brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 back into the match.
His first victim was the night watchman Harris who hung around for 29 balls without scoring before edging an away going delivery form Gul which was brilliantly held by Younis Khan in the slips.
AB DeVilliers was dismissed by another beauty from Gul when he brought one back into the right hander to send the stumps crashing.
Ashwell Prince who has been a steady performer for the South Africans in recent years misread a sharp in dipper from Gul and was trapped leg before wicket.
Abdur Rehman, the left-arm-spinner, dismissed wicketkeeper Mark Boucher for 9 runs with a delivery that straightened.
However, the major loss for the Proteas was the departure of Kallis who edged Saeed Ajmal through to a delighted Adnan Akmal playing his first test for Pakistan.
Pakistan were in already in commanding position when they were rewarded with another wicket before the lunch interval. Abdul Rehman who was bowling with great control had http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johan-Botha-c67173 bowled out with another arm-ball.
South Africans could only muster 54 runs in the two hour first session and lost 6 wickets.
Gul and Rehman both have 3 wickets each while Ajmal now has 2 wickets to his name.
