KNVB was not impressed with Toivonen’s behavior and he was slapped with a four-match suspension. However, the ban is only valid for friendly encounters, making the striker available to Fred Rutten for competitive Eredivisie matches. For his part, the 24-year-old
prolific striker has accepted the suspension without lodging an appeal.
The suspension has brought the forward into limelight for all the wrong reasons yet again. The Swede was on the receiving end of a four-match ban barely a month ago. not able to spot the incident at Philips Stadion, but video footage made sure the unacceptable theatrics were dealt with.
Rutten was left disappointed with the decision then as his men are en route to winning the Eredivisie title. PSV are currently leading the Dutch Eredivisie table and the Boeren owe their current domination in the league to Ola Toivonen. The 24-year-old prolific
striker was one of the undeniable stars of the Eredivisie at the start of the 2010/11 season, making the headlines with some truly impressive performances.
However, the 24-year-old’s temperament continues to get better of the player. He has been heavily criticized in the Dutch papers as his behaviour was deemed very aggressive. The Swedish international just cannot seem to control his temper and aggression
it seems.
