  1. He is corrupt ruler who led the country by military might and sold himself to USA for money. It is well documented that Musharraf is a dollar billionaire and in a country where poverty is rife, he lives a life of luxury.

He is a disgrace and needs to be punished for his corruption illegal actions.

  2. I think Bush should follow suit.

  3. Happy until you think about who will replace him

  4. Is his exit going to be as dramatic as his entry onto the centre-stage, donning the mantle of a 21st century Mustafa Kamal Ataturk?

Reigning or resigning he wants to steal the lime-light.

He declared that he would resign. Watch out for his next move (Don't write his political obituary yet, nor gloat over his discomfiture in the face of 'impeachment' threat).

For the umpteenth time, he declared his patriotism as a last resort. Perhaps as a justification for what all he has done. There is no doubt on the fact that he is responsible for Pakistani economy's bad shape.

Pakistani polity has gradually evolved into a neo-feudal oligarchy for which he too has contributed.

He shares with the street urchins of Lahore or Karachi, his impatience with and aversion to the normal run of politics and politicians. Yet he succumbed to the lure of Pakistani politics. I think he should come clean soon, on Mme. Bhutto's assasination.

But all this is bad news for America, for whom he was the most dependable in their war on terror. It will be a set back.

Any future government there should think in terms of 2things. It should get the thinking of Indian bogeyman off its back. Being the immediate neighbour it can not escape trade links with India to the right level. Still the long term strategy (still to be evolved) is how to get the army off its back.

  5. I think its about time, he knew the people didn't want him a long time ago, he was a friend of the USA and an enemy of his own country

  6. Yaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!

  7. He only did so to avoid corruption charges that he was facing. He knew that he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The best thing Pakistan can do now is hold full democratic presidential elections.

  8. Good. Musharraf will be coming to the UK soon and taking up residence and you and I will have to foot the bill to protect him and family. But the he who pays the piper will be the same and will continue to call the tune. So what's new?

  9. How can an unelected despot resign, exactly ? lol. (A situation Gordon Brown will be facing very soon, too).

  10. put him into the prision.

  11. I think thats too bad.  He was a friend of the United States and he did the best he could under the circumstances.

Its scary to think who will replace him.  Probably some radical muslim regime.  Now that Musharraf is gone, Pakistan will become a haven for terrorists.
