  3. Your timing is bad, we're not providing answers today, just explanations and examples.

In the first problem, you remove the common variable from each term.  Thus:

    ( x^14-x^10+x^7) divided by x^2 would be (x^12-x^8+x^5)

Notice, the raised powers all became two less than they were before you divided.

In the second problem you have to reduce or simplify the original term first.  ( 4x^2 - 2x - 6 ) can be broken down.

If I asked you what times table makes 4, you would probably answer 2 times 2.

If I asked you what times table makes 6, you woud probably answer 2 times 3.

    4x^2 =  2x^2 times 2x^2

So when you're breaking polynomials down, you use these.

    ( 2x^2 + 2 ) ( 2x^2 - 3 )

Then you break down the first terms again, because both are divisible by 2.

    2 ( 1x^2 + 1 ) ( 2x^2 - 3 )

From this point on, I'm going to assume that you have a typing error above, and that you want to divide by (x^2 +1)

which just means that you eliminate that part to find your answer which would be 2 (2x^2 - 3 ).

If it wasn't a typographical error, then there is a bigger problem at play, because there seems to be too big of a difference in the skill level of these problems.  They shouldn't be in the same homework assignment together, because the require quite a big difference in skill levels.  What's up ?  I suggest you go back to the teacher that assigned them.
