Outfielder Mike Trout out of Los Angeles Angels’ starting lineup – MLB News
The Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout did not play as a fully active player in the game against the Cleveland Indians on Monday night. Instead he came on as a pinch runner in the eighth inning due to his jammed right pinkie.
This was a worrying sign for many in the Angels’ organisation as Trout was playing his best game. However, later it was revealed by the Angels’ management that Trout will be coming back into the starting lineup on Tuesday as his injury is not serious.
Trout was slightly injured during a slide on Sunday when he ran towards second base, but could not balance himself as his finger got injured with minor bruises. Though it was not serious as later the X-rays reports also came negative. However, the Angels’ management did not include the 20-year-old outfielder in their starting lineup for Monday’s game as he had some troubles gripping the bat.
Later, Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia commented in the media and told them the current situation regarding his player’s condition. He said, "Usually during the game, adrenaline gets you through it and it doesn't get a chance to get stiff but overnight (it got stiff)."
Since the start of the 2012 Major League Baseball season, the Angels’ outfielder is playing quite consistently. He has been carrying top form and played sensibly. His combination with Mark Trumbo has also won many games for the Angels. This is also important to mention here that it is the first time since April 5 that Trout has been dropped from the starting line-up.
His wonderful .340 hitting average along with 10 homers so far, 36 RBIs and .396 OBP has recently given him an All-Star selection.
"It was kind of surreal; is this really happening to me? It's a dream come true after all the hard work," Trout said after he was chosen for All-Star selection on his consistent form.
This is an amazing achievement for Angels’ young sensation as it will also help him to play harder in the coming days. In the meanwhile, he will be coming back on Tuesday and hoping for a good start once again.
