corn stalks..But like I said, this will be my 1st attempt @ gardening, I have recently moved to the country and have an area about 8 ft by 10 ft to grow, the tomatoes..etc, and another area the same size for the corn.

What else would be good to grow? And when? Like I said, I am new to this...ANY and ALL helpful hints and suggestions are welcome. The land was just "toiled" whatever that means..

I live in Northern California

  2. It's too late in the year to start that stuff, you'll have to wait until next spring.

  3. Too late in the year to plant anything except cold weather crops like radishes, peas, lettuce, onion bulbs.  These can still be planted this year.

Next year try potatos, beans, carrots, cucumber, mellons, tomatoes.  Take you pick because you have a small plot to plant.

Sweet Corn will need polination so you will need to plant one whole 8x10 plot with corn to get it to polinate correctly.

I usually put manure (on sale this time of year at walmart) on my garden this time of year and then till it in next year before planting.
