Not able to write dvd,though cd can be written

Question

i have LENOVO 3000Y500 notebook.. its cd/dvd drive has following markings-- 1. compact disc rewritable ultra speed. 2. DVD multi recorder. 3. RW DVD+R DL... now the problem is that im able to play audio/video/data cd and dvd but when i try to write a dvd it just dont do and log shows - unspecified error.. though i can write the cd.. plz guide me..
