Nintendo’s Wii U’s ‘specs’ excite Crysis developer, studio ‘very happy with dev kits’
CryTek, the studio behind the visually stunning Crysis series, have given Nintendo and Nintendo fans something to cheer about after stating that they were ‘excited’ by the Wii U.
When the Nintendo Wii U was revealed to the world earlier this year, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, more commonly known as E3, in Los Angeles, it did not receive a rave reception that the consumer entertainment electronics company were hoping for.
Instead, the company’s share prices fell by five percent twice, in two days. However, there have been a fair number of developers who have warmed to the next generation of Nintendo’s gaming console.
The latest, of course, being, Electronic Arts’ development studio: CryTek. Having given themselves a brand image of being a studio whose projects maintain a very high, benchmark raising standard when it comes to visuals and graphics in video games, the studio
has given the dev (development) kits for the Wii U, an enthusiastic thumbs up.
The Wii U is the first Nintendo console to have High Definition graphics, something its predecessor the Nintendo Wii did not and that could be a major reason that more mainstream developers are looking into working with the next generation Nintendo console.
According to Avn Yerli, the person who founded CryTek, “The (Wii U’s) specs are very good.”
He continued, “It’s a challenge for designers, but once thought through it can add value and that’s what (is) ultimately important.”
CryTek seem to be serious about the Wii U from that particular statement and look to already be working away at the dev kit. However, the studio has not announced any titles or confirmed whether or not it is working on any games for the Nintendo console
but at least, there is a statement of intent.
Mr. Yerli also pointed out that one of their studios was already showing signs of excitement on working with the kit, “Our guys in Nottingham, they are very happy with their tests on the dev kits and they’re excited about it.”
Although consoles are known to start off slow when it comes to the technical aspects of games due to the fact that developers are still fairly unfamiliar with the ‘mysterious inner workings’ of the console, CryTek are the one studio who will be pushing the
console to its limit from the get go.
We can only wonder whether there will be a Crysis title on the Wii U, or whether the studio will be looking to launch a completely different project altogether.
