News Update: Birmingham City
Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has put an end to rumours regarding http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Larsson-c32733. The media claims that Larsson may well be offloaded in the winter, or the club may risk the player to lose him for a free transfer. The
Swede’s current contract would expire by the end of the current season but he has been linked to switching to Stoke City for a fee of 2 million pounds.
"I wouldn't consider it unless it was a ridiculous offer. I would certainly not contemplate it," stated the Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish.
The manager also added that Larsson remains a valuable asset for the club, and would therefore be offered a new contract. If that fails, Larsson would be allowed to have a word with foreign clubs in the January transfer window.
"I think the clubs are talking to Seb and his agent. There's an offer being made over the next couple of weeks. We want Seb to stay, no doubt about it, but at the end of the day it'll be up to the player himself," claimed the
Birmingham manager.
Birmingham are in good form this season and have managed to topple a lot of top sides. These include the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Manchester City, with whom the side managed 1-0 victories. Alex Mcleish has enabled the side to establish
itself as a premier league regular, although nothing of the sort was expected from them last season. Signing goal keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Foster-c7445 from Manchester United this season has paid dividends, as the English International was the major reason behind the side’s victory
against Manchester City and Chelsea.
Since joining Birmingham city in 2007, the 25 year old has made over 139 appearances for the Premier League new comers and has scored 15 goals. The player has become important for Mcleish and losing him would further deplete an
already under talented side. To survive the hardships of the Premier League, Birmingham would have to keep hold of the 25 year old midfielder.
