New York Islanders snap losing streak, edge New Jersey Devils 3-2 -NHL Match Update
Surprisingly, New York failed to win a game on the road ever since the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season but finally broke that record while snapping their four-game losing streak as the Islanders edged the New Jersey Devils, 3-2, Saturday
night, November 27, 2011, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, United States.
Both goalies, Al Montoya and Martin Brodeur, faced the same number of shots on their net throughout the 60 minute contest, but it was New York’s Montoya fell short on only two while Brodeur failed to block four of those attempts for the Devils.
"Our guys battled. They battled the last nine periods," Islanders coach, Jack Capuano, said. "We did get some breaks tonight. It takes a few breaks to win a game. I'm just glad they got the two points."
Matt Moulson scored the opening goal 11:28 into the first period for his seventh of the regular season to give the Islanders a go ahead goal. New Jersey was booked with less than four minutes remaining in the opener as Bryce Salvador went out with a minor
penalty for boarding, but New York failed to capitalise.
Adam Larsson came back to answer for the Devils at the 4:20 mark of the second period to level the match but it was Josh Bailey who scored again for the Islanders a little over midway through while Adam Henrique shot the equaliser for New Jersey once again
to put the fans on the edge of their seats with 16:00 remaining.
Michael Grabner answered back nearly two minutes later while Josh Bailey was out for two minutes for hooking, putting the New York Islanders at a shorthanded position.
"It's nice to get the one," Grabner said of his game winner. "I think we created some offense on the PK but it's just good that we killed off the penalty."
New York definitely hopes to continue this momentum as they have another road game against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday  while the New Jersey Devils will be facing the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday to kick off their four-game road trip.
