Nassau Stakes – Snow Fairy all set to visit the Glorious Goodwood track once again after a brilliant 2010 experience
After a long layoff, Snow Fairy made her first appearance of the season in the Coral Eclipse Stakes at the Haydock race course, but wasn’t up to mark as she fell behind to finish fourth on a field of five horses.
The four-year-old bay filly is now looking to forget the Haydock meet and looking forward to the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on 30th July.
Trainer, Ed Dunlop, will feature his filly among the 26 entrants for the Group 1 contest.
Ed Dunlop hasn’t kept anything in the dark about his bay filly. He has come out on the open about the fact that the filly will go for the Group 1 Nassau Stakes.
The daughter of Intikhab has gone on to show her mettle in the international races as well.
Her most prominent win was at Sha Tin when she bolted past a field of thirteen horses to win the Group 1 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup on 12 December, 2010.
Ed Dunlop has shown a high level of trust in the four-year-old's ability to be versatile and to compete in different races over various distances.
This trust has actually opened abundant options for Snow Fairy in the 2011 season.
Ed Dunlop followed the same philosophy in the 2010 season and thus received a positive response from Snow Fairy, resulting in both enjoying lucrative paydays.
Prior to the much acclaimed win at the Sha Tin meeting, Snow Fairy participated in the Japanese Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup for three-year-old and older fillies and mares. She bagged the Kyoto meet in emphatic style, winning the race by
a neck over Irian.
With a total earnings of £2,111,897, Snow Fairy will leave her options open this season as well and try to add to her already massive bank roll.
The forecast for Snow Fairy is to head to Glorious Goodwood and run in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes and look to get her season up and running with a win.
Being off for seven months, the connections of Snow Fairy were delighted at her performance in the Coral Eclipse Stakes and the way she ran, particularly keeping in mind the talent she was up against in the Haydock meet since, with the likes of Workforce
and So You Think in the same field, she was up for a tough competition, especially after a long layoff.
Ed Dunlop is heading back to Glorious Goodwood with good memories, as the filly won their in the 2010 season in the Fashion Stakes and would be hoping that she repeat those exploits to give herself a jump-start to a new challenge from the race course she
started off her racing career last season.
