West Brom and Welsh international goalkeeper Boaz Myhill admits that his side face a stern challenge as Wales host Belgium in the group stages of the World Cup qualifiers tomorrow night.
Wales take on an impressive and star studded Belgian squad for their first World Cup qualifier. Myhill is aware of the threat that Belgium poses, but is confident of his side’s chances as he starts the game in goal for Wales.
The West Brom goalkeeper is set to fill in for Wayne Hennessey, who is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament injury.
Wales face the intimidating task of facing the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marouane-Fellaini-c24295, among others in a star studded line up that is termed as Belgium’s ‘golden generation’.
The 29-year old keeper spent last season on loan at Birmingham City, but has returned to the Hawthorns. The player has only made one major appearance for the Baggies this season, starting the game in the Capital One League Cup against Yeovil Town last month.
Myhill has however been impressive for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 ever since he was required to fill in for Hennessey. The keeper made a series of excellent saves against the 2-0 defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina last month and is in the best shape of his career.
Speaking ahead of the game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850, the player said:
"I feel great, I have trained well today and I had a game in midweek last week so I am fine and ready to go. All I can do is prepare well when I am here.”
"As a player you want to play, nobody gets into the game to sit on the bench and not play regular football but I am feeling well prepared."
Wales are short staffed when it comes to first team players due to injuries. The side will be without the likes of Neil Taylor, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471 and Andrew Crofts, who all withdrew from the squad recently.
Their absence deals a further blow to the side, who are still in search of a win under new manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Coleman. Myhill is however confident that a win for Wales is just around the corner and is ready to take on Belgium.
