Ranji Trophy’s third quarter-final between Mumbai and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Baroda-c769 was won by the former, who never gave their opponents a chance in this five-day contest which took place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
After ending the fourth day of play with 171 for one, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 resumed the final day, aiming to post another hundred runs before giving Baroda a second go with the bat.
The overnight partnership between KR Pawar and HN Shah looked impressive right from the get go, as the batsmen led their side towards 203, before Baroda drew first blood with the dismissal of Shah, who found his way back to the pavilion after smacking 79
runs.
It was then time for the master blaster, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, to come in the middle but this was not his day as he could score only nine runs before losing his wicket to Bhatt.
Then with 226 on the board, Mumbai lost AM Nayar, who succumbed after bolstering only eight runs.
By now Mumbai had scored enough runs to eventually win the match, but they chose to continue as KR Pawar and AP Tare took the score to 279, before the latter became the next wicket to fall as he was dismissed by Bhatt after smashing 27 runs.
In the next over, Pawar was removed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Huzefa-Mohammed-Patel-c63657 after jabbing a fantastic knock of 115 runs.
With their top batsmen on the benches, AA Chavan and DS Kulkarni led their side towards 295 runs before declaring the innings.

With a massive target of 670 runs ahead of them, Baroda needed an act of God to come close to the asking score.
Openers SP Wakaskar and AA Waghmode led an early charge, smacking the Mumbai bowlers right from the get go. The two batsmen gave their side an opening stand of 101 runs, before Mumbai crashed the party by dismissing Waghmode for 60.
Then with 111 on the board, Mumbai first lost ARPS Chauhan for six, followed by the wicket of Wakaskar for 42.
Later, with KH Devdhar on six and AT Rayudu on 19, the day ended with Baroda on 137.
