  1. If it's only a misdemeanor, he should still be able to find employment as a law enforcement officer, but it will probably be more difficult for him than someone who doesn't have a record.

  2. I don't know their regulations specifically, but it is a mistake that will hurt his chances.  Hopefully he can still be considered.  As with everything, if he is honest about it that will be his best shot with any department.

  3. Your brother is probably still on probation, either formal or informal, as this occurred only 2 years ago.  After or just before he completes his probation, he should request the court for an expungment.  But if applying for any law enforcement or related employment, he must be completely honest about the arrest and conviction.  They will have access to his entire rap sheet and criminal history, even juvenile.

Also, check out their website about employment qualifications:

  4. You don't say how long ago it was or his age now.

I have been doing Police Officer backgrounds for about fifteen years so I know from where I speak. I also do background investigations for other types of businesses. The deal is, if it did not happen as a juvenile his chances are very slim. The nonsense about having the record "expunged"  or sealed does not work. It will not make it go away when it comes to his FBI report. This is one of the tools used during a background investigation for law enforcement. FBI will have this record for life regardless of what is done at the county level. If he was a juvenile his chances are better. He should be honest about the arrest in any case. If he lies or tries to hide this he is guaranteed to fail his background. When he applies at other departments, one of the questions asked is "have you applied anywhere else". The lie on a previous investigation will haunt him during other investigations.

  5. IF HE DIRENT STILL NO MORE THAN $300 DOLLARS HE WILL BE FINE HE NEEDS TO GET A LAYER TO GET THAT EXPUNGE FROM HIS RECORD AND HE COULD GET SOME LETTERS  LIKE FROM HIS SCHOOL EXT. AND GO TALK TO THE JUDGE TO GET OF PROBATION I THINK IS 3 YEARS PROBATION WHAT THEY GET AND IF YOUR BRO IS DOING GOOD HE WILL GET OF PROBATION HE SHOULD BE GOOD.ALL COPS ARE NOT PERFECT IF THAT WAS THE CASE I DONT THINK WE WOULD HAVE ENOUGH COPS.

  6. Absolutely!  He needs to go through a court approved expungement program to get it off of his record first.  A good way to get the victim to sponsor or agree to this is to do what the Bible says. "If you steal from someone, you are obligated to pay them back four times over."  So let's say he stole a $50 stereo.  If he approaches the victim, individual or business, and offers a piece offering of $200, they will probably be inclined to fulfill his request and write a short paragraph stating that they would agree to him going through a program to get it expunged from his record.  Once he has the victims agreement, he can hire an attorney to begin the process.
