Matthew Selt supportive of PTC events: 2012-13 Snooker Season – Snooker Update
Last year, the snooker governing body, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) announced the addition of three more events in the pre-existing Players Tour Championship (PTC) series at the start of the 2012-13 snooker season.
These new events will be entitled as Asian PTC events and will be played in China. The addition of new PTC events will be important for those potters who are lower in rank and need to improve their standing.
Many snooker players appreciated the initiative thinking that the events will enable amateur potters to get some experience of playing under pressure against bigger players and in an international atmosphere. The 2012 Australian Goldfields Open quarter-finalist,
England’s Matthew Selt also supported the new PTC events and reckoned that the events will help lower ranked players to improve their game as well as their ranking points.
In his post on World Snooker’s official website, Selt wrote, “Everyone on the Tour now has so much opportunity and I think that's why the likes of Stuart and Barry have won tournaments. It used to be the case that you would never play someone like John Higgins,
Stephen Hendry or Ronnie O'Sullivan until you qualified for a venue”
He added, “But now with the PTC events, the players lower down the rankings have got used to the pressure of competing against the top guys - and beating them.”
Selt had a tremendous last season as far as the PTC events are concerned. He managed to get into the advance stages of the PTCs but was not able to win any of the events. In the new snooker season, he tried his luck in the first Asian PTC event bit crashed
out in the very first fame.
However, he will be participating in the UKPTC and the 2012 World Snooker European Tour. Selt is aiming to make an appearance in the upcoming snooker events of the new snooker season. It will be exciting to see what type of impact Selt can make in the new
season as he battles it out with some of the top snooker players from around the world. He will be definitely be looking to put in an improved performance and get some better results.
