Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has signed a new agreement with his current team for 2013.
Webber’s contract with Red Bull was to be expired at the end of this season and he has been surrounded by many speculations that he may join Ferrari afterwards. However, he has recently made an announcement that he is going to stay with his team in the future.
He has won 9 grands prix with Red Bull and has developed a very sound affiliation with them. Moreover, he said that he is feeling confident for the forthcoming races.
In addition, he said that they have been trying their best to keep on making the substantial advancements so as to enhance the pace of their car RB8 for the approaching races.
He also said that he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the season ahead to make his position stronger in this year’s championship fight.
“I've been with Red Bull Racing since 2007 and have achieved nine grand prix wins during that time,” Webber said. “I'm high on confidence at the moment and firing on all cylinders. I know the Team well and I'm very comfortable here; we have grown together
over the years and it feels like absolutely right thing to stay with Red Bull for another season.”
Meanwhile, the team principal of Red Bull, Christian Horner said that they are pleased to sign a new deal with Webber and hope to enjoy a good relationship with the Aussie in the next season.
“As there was strong desire from both sides to continue the partnership, it was logical decision to extend our relationship and it is with great pleasure that we confirm Mark will drive for us in 2013,” said Horner.
It will be important to mention that the Australian driver has been one of the most consistent drivers in the season so far and he is the second driver after Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who has won two races.
At present, he is standing at second place in the drivers’ championship and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the season ahead.
