Mark Webber focuses to perform well in 2012 Japanese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has said that he is focussing to perform well in the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix which is to be held at Suzuka next weekend.
Webber is presently standing at 5th position in the drivers’ championship with 132 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren and is behind Button’s teammate, Lewis Hamilton.
Although, the current leader in the drivers’ rankings, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari has a strong lead over the Australian driver, nevertheless, he is confidently looking forward to score reasonable points in the remainder of the season so as to make his mark
stronger in this year’s championship fight.
The 36-year-old has said that he is eagerly waiting for the next race and is planning to secure some competitive points at Suzuka which according to him is a sensational track. Even though, he said that Degner One turn will be quite difficult for them but
they are making the significant preparations to come up stronger in the race ahead.
“It's caught the best of them out, for sure; Lewis has had a few walks there as well,” Webber said. “It is touch and go in places, it's a great track, a sensational circuit. I think the issue is it is hard for us to recover the car; Degner One is a corner
which is hard for us to get the car back in some sort of order before we make contact with the barriers.”
Furthermore, he said that he has always enjoyed driving in Japan and he is earnestly eying to show up well there in the coming week.
“You really can let the cars go round there so I've enjoyed driving the simulator the last few days around there,” the Aussie added.
Though, he has not been able to score any points in the last two grands prix, nonetheless, he is not feeling upset over his poor results and is targeting to fight back in the forthcoming races.
Besides, he has been deemed as one of the most competent contenders in this year’s championship battle and it will be exciting to see how he performs in the remaining six races.
