Manchester United’s third choice keeper, Ben Amos has come forth and admitted that he would like to represent the Great Britain team during the 2012 Olympics.
Over the course of the last few weeks, Amos has finally started to come under the spot light, following the players performance for United against Stoke City.
With both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Amos-c7439 started in goal and went on to keep a clean sheet for the Red Devils.
However, the youngster is well aware of the fact that the chances of him representing England at the moment, are rather slim, due to the brilliant performances that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Hart-c18699 has been putting in for the national team.
Instead of competing with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 first choice, Ben Amos has decided to contest for the Great Britain team instead.
When talking about his ambitions, the United player is quoted to have said: "With Joe Hart doing so well in the England team, potentially a candidate for the next captain of the team, chances might be few and far between in the future so the Olympics is
a good opportunity to represent not just England but Great Britain at such a big event."
The player is well aware of the fact that Hart will represent England in the Euro’s and as a result Manchester City might not let the keeper play in the Olympics. However, with Amos having more than ample spare time on his hands, he could easily take up
the role of being the shot stopper for Great Britain.
Unlike the other keepers who might contest for the Olympic squad, Amos has had more than ample time to rest himself and maintain his fitness, as he barely ever represents United, due to De Gea and Lindegaard both playing superbly.
The keeper admitted that he had thought about going away on loan because of this, but in the end decided to stick around and try and contest for a spot in the team.
Amos then ended by stating: "I've been trying to stay patient all season and have been dying to get out on loan at times. Everything happens for a reason so probably a good http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 I didn't go out."
