Fantasy Premier League: Ryan Giggs put in a superb performance against Fulham to record the highest points tally in Gameweek 17.
It was an eventful week in the Barclays Premier League, more for what happened off the pitch in terms of the charges of racism filed on Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Chelsea’s John Terry, though for Fantasy Premier League managers, there were other more important
things to worry about.
Below are the top performers for Gameweek 17 in terms of points earned:
Ryan Giggs – Manchester United – 17 points
Playing against Fulham away from home has been a difficult trip for the Red Devils in recent years, yet one would not be able to come to that conclusion if they saw the way Ryan Giggs ran the Cottagers raw.
His Man of the Match performance earned the veteran a handy 3-Bonus Points while the rest of his statistics spoke for themselves.
The midfielder earned points in every possible way ranging from time spent on the pitch to keeping a clean sheet and from goals setup to goals scored. Giggs was leagues ahead of the rest of the players.
Luis Nani – Manchester United – 16 points
The only player, who managed to keep pace with Giggs, was fellow Manchester United teammate, Luis Nani who put in another spell-binding performance.
Bettering Giggs in terms of assists (2), Nani also managed to find the back of the net for the 5-points that comes with that achievement. In fact, the Portuguese winger’s stats were identical to his senior team member, and he was only bested on the Bonus
Points front, where he earned 2 as compared to Giggs’s 3.
Ali Al Habsi – Wigan Athletic – 13 points
It is an impressive feat from the Wigan goal keeper who not only managed to keep a clean sheet against a rampant Liverpool side, but also saved a penalty in the process.
Even without any Bonus Points the keeper managed to make it to double figures and that too against quality opposition.
Paul Scharner – West Brom – 13 points
Scharner is a Fantasy Premier League favourite despite his inconsistent form. The West Brom player reminded all the managers in the Fantasy Premier League just why they ought to keep the 5.2-million pound player in their sides.
A goal, an assist and three bonus points later he has his name back among the best in the league, but how long will he last? That is the real question.
Sergio Aguero – Manchester City – 13 points
Rounding up the top scorers for Gameweek 17 is the Argentine sensation Sergio Aguero who walked his way to 13 points.
His two goals managed to earn him a Man of the Match performance and 3 Bonus Points to end up with 13 points by end of the 90 minutes.
