    There is a portion that are Catholic as well, small portion.

  3. Technically, ancestry worship is the predominant religion in Vietnam. Ancestry worship is respecting deceased family members and practiced by just about everyone in Vietnam despite their belief in following Christianity, Buddhism or other religions.

    As for major religions, Buddhism is dominant over the others. Buddhists account for a little over 80% of all native Vietnamese. Catholicism (is a distant second).

    The main religion in Vietnam is Buddhism (most is Mahayana), then Christianity, including Roman Catholicism, Protestantism. Caodaiism and Hoa Hao Buddhism are two Vietnamese unique religions.

    Those who declare atheist in Vietnam always practice traditional Ancestors' worship, and therefore, they have relationship with Buddhism.
