Question:

M1 Carbine: can the receiver be modified?

I have an Inland M1 Carbine (1980's) and it occasionally jams when using re-loads. I know that this isn't a problem with fresh cartridges, but the re-loads are cheaper. Unfortunately, the diameters are not consistent.

I would like to know if there is any proven modification to the receiver (such as machining a small oblong chamfer at the opening, biased towards the clip) that would help with jamming, but not impede the normal chambering action.

thanks,

bob

  1. Why are your reloads not consistant? The ones I reload for my Carbine work perfectly. If I was you, I would work on the quality of my reloads. I wouldn't modify my rifle.
