  1. move to newzealand if you are above 60 and want to retire

  2. my uncle went a couple of years ago and is doing so well. he has his own business and 2 houses, he didnt have any of that here. down side thou is that it hasnt must nightlife, he said all pubs, clubs everything close at 8. most ppl go to oz, myself and my bf are moving to sydney in august. we found it has more oportunity,

  3. Re Sarah above, er I think your Uncle must be living in a country town.  Our clubs & bars stay open ALL NIGHT dude.

I would suggest you come for a holiday first rather than just straight out move here.  Loads of UK people have settled here permanently since the 1950's & they love it.

People come for better weather & a good place to bring up your kids & better real estate opportunities.

There are lots of job opportunities particularly in Auckland but it depends what you do.  For instance if you are a nurse, doctor or IT professional there are loads.  You might earn less than in the UK though but people stay anyway as they prefer our laid back lifestyle.

There will always be a few that emmigrate and regret it, regardless of what country they are going to.  All I know is that UK people seem to prefer NZ over Australia as Australians are more like Americans in that they are loud & outspoken & NZers are more like UK people.  Also UK people find Australia too hot.

Best nightlife is in Auckland and Wellington.  Very easy to meet people in Wellington, very social place, more welcoming of strangers.  There are also loads of UK people here for you to hang out with if that's what you are wanting.

  4. 50% of people come back to England,

The grass is not always greener on the other side of the world,

And when coming back to England, it's a lot harder to start again, with Houses/Jobs etc,

    Good Luck though.

  5. Contact the NZ Consulate General or Embassy.

  6. I thought everyone was moving from New Zealand to Australia///

  7. I wouldnt recommend it! Make the move to Australia, there is so much more opportunities here for yourself and your family, where as NZ cant offer that, unless you already have something organized for when you arrive???

  8. You could ask this question in the NEW ZEALAND section

p.s not sure where sarah's uncle lives in NZ but all pubs and clubs are in fact open till late, 5 or 6am in the morning on Saturdays and sundays. we are not a "hick" country we are very modern and have all modern conveniences and night time activities, just maybe not as many live concerts as other parts of the world.
