Leonie Antonia Beck captures Women’s 800m freestyle gold: Day five – German Olympic Trials
Leonie Antonia Beck of SV Wurzburg captured gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle in the age group of 15 year Olds and Under on day five of the 2012 German Olympic Trials in Berlin on May 14.
Beck impressed the aquatic crowd with her invincible efforts in the distant freestyle discipline as she snared gold medal of the event.
Her stupendous effort remained prominently ahead of her challengers throughout the discipline and she reached the finishing end with the timing of 8 minutes and 49.78 seconds.
She was followed by Antonia Massone of SSG Saar Max Ritter, who stayed almost six seconds slower and tapped the finishing end for silver medal with the timing of 8 minutes and 55.91 seconds.
Third spot of the event was secured by Cindy Oberneder of TV Passau 1862, who stayed nearly eleven seconds behind and tapped the finishing end with the timing of 9 minutes and 06.39 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Jenny Sonnenschein of SG Bayer WUP/UER/DOR, who was also nearly eleven seconds slower and settled on the finishing end as fourth position holder with the timing of 9 minutes and 17.52 seconds.
Sonnenschein was chased by Marie Motylski of SG HT16, who stayed nearly 2.50 seconds slower and hit the wall with an effort of 9 minutes and 20.19 seconds.
Sixth best spot of the race was secured by Lina Weinmeister of SG Essen, who was 1.01 seconds apart and completed her swim in a time of 9 minutes and 21.20 seconds.
Weinmeister was trailed by Charlotte Cronjager of SV Blau-Weib Bochum, who was 1.10 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and posted a time of 9 minutes and 22.30 seconds.
Eighth position of the discipline was secured by Christin Stohner of Aqua Berlin, who remained considerably slower from Cronjager and finished her swim in a time of 9 minutes and 28.94 seconds.
Subsequently, Melina Schlegel and Katrin Harnischmacher proved their eligibility for ninth and tenth position with timings of 9:29.88 and 9:30.54 minutes, respectively.
In addition, the session ended after the conclusion of all posted events while the position holders raked medals at the medal ceremony of the championship.
