I joined LA Fitness last week, but was just told today that their pool is NOT chlorine! It is saline...is that even sanitary??? I've never been swimming in a pool like this. Has anyone? If so, what are your thoughts?

  1. Salt water swimming pool is more comfortable for swimmers. Salt water pools have chlorine though the level is less. A salt water pool in comparison to the chlorine pool, contains  lower level of chlorine which means that it has a higher level of pH. This makes the  pool water less harmful to the human body,  causing no  burning, itching, dry skin, or green hair. It also smells and tastes better.

  2. They are a combination of saline and chlorine.  You can smell the chlorine on your body after swimming in them.

  3. The pools are not salt water.  My mother is allergic to chlorine, so she decided to join LA Fitness because they told her it was salt water.  Needless to say, my mother has been to the doctor quite a few times for massive swelling to her face and rashes all over her body.  When she demanded a refund, they told her they were sorry that they forgot to tell her corporate came out and told them it was actually chlorine.  She asked when they were told, and it ended up being way before she enrolled.  Horrible place.

  4. They are sanitary and a healthful way to swim.  Chlorine isn't good for you and your skin is your biggest organ.  Prior to joining, I had cut back on going to the pool drastically just not to be exposed to that much chlorine.  I'm am so thankful the LA Fitness is ahead of it's time!
