KwaZulu-Natal Inland v KwaZulu-Natal - CSA Provincial Three-Day Competition – Live Score and Update
KwaZulu-Natal Inland 286/5 (95.0 ov) v KwaZulu-Natal - Match drawn
The three-day match in the ongoing CSA Provincial Competition between KwaZulu-Natal Inland and KwaZulu-Natal ended in a draw as there was no play on the third day at City Oval, Pietermaritzburg.
The second day was also eventless as fans could see almost five overs bowled in the day before showers came pouring down.
While KwaZulu-Natal Inland had an opportunity to bat for 95 overs and amass 286 runs, KwaZulu-Natal were not so lucky as their batsmen never got the chance to strap their pads on.
The first day was the only time when spectators witnessed action in the middle as KwaZulu-Natal Inland chose to bat first after winning the toss and managed to close the day with 271 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets.
It was a humble start by them as instead of going after the bowlers right from the get go, the batsmen chose to play on merit without taking too many risks.
They, however, were left shocked when with only a run on the board opener TM Lortan was given leg-before wicket without scoring a run.
With the opener back in the pavilion, the side could have panicked but instead, N Hendrie and SJ Erwee stabilized the situation by hammering the score to 75.
Hendrie was then the second batsman to lose his wicket on the opening day, as he was caught by Razak off the bowling of Maharaj after smacking a brilliant knock of 40 runs.
It was then time for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/B-Moses-c47041 to come in the middle and together with SJ Erwee, he launched another punishing batting onslaught.
With 104 runs on the board, the batting side then lost their third wicket of the day on the demise of Erwee, who was picked up by Maharaj after he had belted 44 runs.
Wicketkeeper/batsman, AL Ndhlovu, made his share of contribution by smacking 38 run before finding his way off the field.
The partnership between K Nipper and B Moses was epic has it took the score to 269 with Nipper hitting 69, while Moses stayed unbeaten on an inspirational knock of 71 runs.
