Kansas City Royals’ owner David Glass wants victories
The Kansas City Royals are all set to kick off their 2011 season with spring training. Their owner, David Glass, is more than eager to see the club rise to fame this season. After slow progression last year through the Major League
season, the club is looking to change its fortune in the new mission that has come up from the fans. There is a need to win and the management at the helm will be looking to up the competition when the season kicks off in April.
Manager Ned Yost is in the mix and his empirical leading ability has many young players following veterans in their hunger for a major league opportunity. Spring training is set to start on 17 February and Glass is one person who
is ecstatic about the team’s outlook this year.
Glass was able to talk about his optimism in the expectation leading to the league season this year. He said he was excited, encouraged and impatient about the team’s appearance this year. He was eager to see how the prospects
would hold together this year.
"The fans in Kansas City deserve to have a good team. They are really supportive of the Royals and they've gone through a number of years now where we've not been very good. They are the ones that I want to have a good team for
because they deserve it. They've hung in there with us and I think it's going to pay off."
The club will be without two major components from last year. Outfielder, David DeJesus, and pitcher, Zack Greinke, are not in the squad anymore and that changes the face of the squad to a great degree. The club will have to rely
heavily on its minor league crops to provide a good chance for a division trophy this year.
"It really will be different without them and I really like both of those kids and I want both of them to do really, really well with their new teams," Glass said. "But, you know what? What we did in the past didn't work so change
is necessary."
The general manager of the club, Dayton Moore has set the tempo right for the club in the recent years and that has created a good flux of youngsters to develop in the organization. The Major League Baseball board recently released
the Top 50 prospects’ list and luckily, Kansas had six of their own players in the mix.
Glass believes Moore has done the right thing in recent years, and with patience, dividends could start flowing in once the major stars from the Minor League crawl into the Major League roster.
