The right-handed Somerset batsman, Jos Buttler, on Tuesday lavished praise on stand-in skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alfonso-Thomas-c991’ captaincy, saying that the South African is leading the side quite well, with the players and team management having full confidence in him.
"Alfonso Thomas leads the side really well and we're confident. We're doing all we can – we've won two from two and had the other rained out, so we're in good place," said Buttler during a media encounter on Tuesday.
Alfonso Thomas has been standing in for regular skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marcus-Trescothick-c1898, who is recovering from an ankle surgery for a ruptured tendon. Trescothick underwent a surgery in late April, initially for a torn tendon, but during the procedure the doctor discovered
that the tendon was ruptured, not torn. The injury sidelined the Somerset skipper for at least two months.
In his absence, Somerset’s South African import, Alfonso Thomas, led the side to an unbeaten start to this season’s Friends Life T20 campaign, scripting convincing wins over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785 at Bristol
was abandoned without a ball bowled.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 next head to Edgbaston, Birmingham, to play the Bears on Thursday, without six key players, but Buttler is hopeful even the depleted squad would continue doing well and keep the winning pace intact before foreign players rejoin them after completing
assignments with their national squads.
Buttler hinted at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lewis-Gregory-c72822, who claimed 18 Flt20 wickets last season at an average of 17, making a comeback to the squad in the absence of frontline players.
"We've got a reasonably big squad and Lewis Gregory, who did so well in the competition last season, can come in. We're confident that we've got all the bases covered," said Buttler, who has been named in England’s T20 squad for the one-off game against
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
“Arul Suppiah and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Hildreth-c1647 missed the first T20 game – and those are two strong players to leave out,” he added further.
Buttler admitted that playing conditions at Edgbaston would be quite different from the ones they have been playing in at Taunton; however, he was confident of doing well on Thursday night.
"We'll have to adjust to playing at Edgbaston – it's a much bigger ground than Taunton – but we've got a good formula in Twenty20,” said the 21-year-old right-handed batsman, who played an unbeaten 58-run knock in Sunday’s five-wicket win over Northamptonshire.
