Is grooming a dog with curly hair much different then grooming one with straight hair?

i am just starting out and i have not went to school yet for grooming. I have groomed my dog a few times . he came out pretty good . my friends are going to let me practice on there dogs they have a cocker spaniels

my dog was a Lhasa Apso

it is totally different grooming curly haired dogs then straight haired!

Grooming is a challenge when it comes to the different coat types.  There are Terrier coats, chow chow coats, poodle coats (they have a terrier coat to some degree),  Lhasa coats......etc.  A different clip for each group.  Cockers are hard to do so if you master a cocker you can do most any clip.

Then there are different clips for a cocker, different clips for Poodles, different clips among the different terriers.  I wouldn't say they are hard to do but you have to groom for several years before you get things done right.  Then it is not just what the books show you how to do,  you have owner specifics.
