  1. It is in fact an ad campaign for Gargoyles Sunglasses from way back.  It means that just as a gargoyle was the mythical protector against evil, wearing a pair of Gargoyles would thereby protect your face.  They are bullet proof after all.  No really they are.


  2. "Gargoyle" is a brand of sunglasses.  "Let a Gargoyle Sit on Your Face" is their advertising catch phrase... clever, huh!?  : )
