I have my evaluation and wondering if its better (if they are available to me) to become a signaller or rifleman. What is the evaluation like? Do i wear a suit?

  1. Signals and Infantry are two very different jobs.

I'd avoid Signals, myself. Setting up radios and other communications equipment in the field and then establishing encryption can be an absolute nuisance. Military radios and the encryption equipment are also highly classified, and they must be picketed (often for very long hours in the night). It also takes longer to train Signallers and they sign up for six years instead of four. But hey, it's a job that needs brains and opens up quite a bit of opportunity.

Your standard RAInf Rifleman doesn't need much in the way of brains or qualifications. It can be a hard job, with a lot of crawling around in mud, pack marching and the like. But they're highly deployable and tough soldiers. Experienced Riflemen can train further as Snipers, Mortarmen, APC crewmen, Assault Pioneers, DFSW crewmen (MAG58s on tripods), Patrolmen, Surveillence Operators and Clerks and Storemen. As you can see, there's a lot of opportunity for progression into a diverse range of other jobs.

Wear a suit, tie and nice shoes. Take it all very seriously, research your jobs well and think why you want to join, and why they should let you.
