I have distictive ringing on my line fax line and cordless answering machine ring only works with first answer

Question

new 5.8 cordless with answering machine set for 4 rings running from outlet to fax machine then to cordless used to go to fax after two rings automatically now it goes to whatever has the lowest rings to answer

When multiple devices share the same phone line, the device set with lowest rings will always pick-up first.  

Any other devices set with more rings simply will never pick-up the call because they got beat to the draw...

You need to setup your fax machine to only recieve faxes on a distinctive ring.
